Tour Duchenne 2010 - Charity Cycle - Itinerary

Tour Duchenne 2010 is now complete. See Duchenne Ireland's Facebook page for media from the event.

Tour Duchenne Is Duchenne Ireland's annual charity cycle to raise funds for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Research. Each year cyclists get ready for a super cycle route within Ireland. This year it takes them on the "Beach Tour" from Bray Seafront to Brittas Bay and back (approx 85 km)

The cycle is fully supported by the Gardai, the Red Cross, the local councils and is sponsored by local businesses. This is a great day to show your support to collectors who will be collecting for the charity within the towns on the route (see below for route).

Please register for the cycle at the top of this page, support collection points within the towns or donate to the charity for this very worthy cause.

Duchenne Ireland is a voluntary organisation and 100% of proceeds go directly to Duchenne Research. See our research page for information on the projects we are sponsoring now.

The following details the days events as they will happen on October 2nd.

Please Note:

Due to schedule conflicts, the start of the Cycle will take place at the Aquarium on Strand Road, Bray Seafront.

Cyclist Need

All cyclists must bring the following:

  • A cycling helmet (Rental bicycles will have helmets provided)

  • Cycling Atire (shorts, light rain gear but - hoping for weather like last year!)

  • 2 replacement bicycle tubes

    • Phoenix Park Rental bicycles have again offered to rent bikes to those in need for €10 per day. See below for contact details. These bikes are great and worked well last year. They even have kevlar coated tires)

  • A water bottle (2 if you have them!)

  • Water Proof label for your bicycle (on the cross bar just in case)

  • Cycle registration paid (€100) - Online registrations via PayPal Account or Credit Card are so simple to do at the top right of this site page.

    • Registration on the Day is ok, but "goodies" may not be available !

  • A Cycle Number will be allocated to each rider upon registration on Saturday Morning

N.B. All cyclists must have a helmet before they can begin. Support Vans will cater for drifting cyclists.

IMPORTANT: Anyone with a pre-existing medical condition must make it know to the organisers prior to commencement of the cycle to facilitate co-operation with ambulance services that will be supporting the peletons on both days.
