Duchenne Ireland is a patient organisation and registered Irish Charity (CHY 18197) established to faciliate funding translational research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne Ireland is affiliated with numerous patient groups and clinical, research and support networks for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne Ireland works internationally to rapidly advance research into Duchenne and welcomes organisations, parents and supporter who believe they can help to forward progress in this research.
MISSION STATEMENT
The aims of Duchenne Ireland is to raise awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at local, national and government level. Our objective is to raise funds which shall go directly to the researchers and clinicians who we believe have the best chance of developing improved therapies which will benefit this generation. We are also working towards achieving an infrastructure which is on a par with best international practice.
RESEARCH STRATEGY
We aim to fund translational research for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy which will move towards the clinic within a defined timeline. We encourage applicants to have a clear path to the clinic in place if work is successful i.e. a plan for success.
IMMEDIATE GOALS
Duchenne Ireland has the following immediate goals:
- Fund raising aimed at translational research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and associated grant calls to ensure the money is best used in a timely manner
- Lobbying the Irish Government to play their part in driving research forward for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
- Informing Parents about the available therapies and standards of care available for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
- Raising the awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) in Ireland, at local and national and government level
- To increase Irelands ability to play a key part in Duchenne Research through Industry, Patient and Government Co-Operation
Duchenne Ireland is an inclusive group dedicated to making sure fast progress is made in relation to therapies for boy and girls with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. We welcome help, cooperation and sponsorship from all researchers, clinicians, organizations, businesses and individuals in achieving these goals.
